Water level above normal at two major dams

Santo Domingo.- While the National Dams and Reservoirs Committee on Tuesday reported low water levels at most dams, the National Weather Office (Onamet) says two of them operate above their maximum capacity.

Onamet’s statement is based on the State-owned Electric Utility’s figures, which show higher than normal levels for the dams at Hatillo and Rio Blanco.

It said the Rincon, Lopez Angostura and Aguacate dams are close to their peak levels, as well as the reservoirs of Monción and Barias.

It adds that Tavera Bao, Valdesia, Sabana Yegua, Sabaneta, Jiguey and Monción operate within normal limits.
