Agents seize items block sidewalks, pedestrian crossings

Santo Domingo.- Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) agents and National District City Council (DNA) inspectors have been removing obstacles that block crosswalks along several of the capital’s busiest streets since yesterday, and seized tires and auto parts sold by shops.

The operation included evictions of street vendors, especially Haitians, who blocked pedestrian crossings at busy street corners.

Amet director Juan Geronimo Brown and Santo Domingo mayor Roberto Salcedo said the brigade aim to recover public spaces throughout the city, and will be accompanied by officials of the National District Office of the Prosecutor.
