Ruling party Senator slams traffic cops on official plates chaos

Santo Domingo.- Ruling party senator Tommy Galan on Thursday criticized the Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) for its alleged failure to enforce the new law on the designations and usage of official license plates.

The legislator said despite the new law, the disorder with plates continues right in front of AMET’s nose, despite being the agency that enforces it. "I suggest that AMET get up to date with the new law on the designation and use of official, diplomatic, consular and exonerated plates."

"I want to call AMET’s attention to enforce the law and start a nationwide effort of prosecution," said the also Senate Finance Committee chairman, quoted by eldia.com.do.

"The number of vehicles without plates on Dominican streets is surprising. Until when are we going to live in such chaos?,” Galan asked. "It’s unacceptable that so many vehicles transiting the streets without plates in our country.”
