Storm to become hurricane near Cape Verde, mostly sunny locally

Miami. – The Atlantic hurricane season’s 8th tropical storm formed south of Cape Verde Islands today and is forecast to become a hurricane Wednesday, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) announced Monday.

It said the new tropical storm, named Humberto, is 170 kilometers south of Cape Verde’s capital Praia, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kmh, moving west at 19 kph.

Locally, the National Meteorology Office forecasts widely scattered showers over the Caribbean coast, central mountains and border zone, “notably tapering off over the entire national territory on Tuesday.
