New U.S. Embassy, Consulate open February in upscale sector

Santo Domingo.- U.S. diplomats on Wednesday announced that Washington’s Embassy in Dominican Republic as well as other offices scattered around the capital will be moved next February to a new complex built on Colombia Av, in the upscale sector of Arryo Hondo.

Quoted by diariolibre.com.do, they said the busy U.S. Consulate building on Maximo Gomez Av. will be sold.

The U.S. Embassy’s new press attaché Jeremiah Knight made the announcement, accompanied by the new public affairs counselor James L. Russo.

As part of the transfer, the U.S. Embassy said it’s looking for a moving company to take the furniture to the new facilities.
