Captain scandal; lawmaker slams Antinarcotics Agency

Santo Domingo.- Senator Wilton Guerrero on Wednesday slammed the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) for in his view running the country’s biggest drug cartel, and of being infiltrated, at the service of drug trafficking.

The lawmaker also said there "are still many captains" in the agency, in reference to former Army captain assigned to the DNCD, Raysa of the Cruz Olivares, charged with conspiracy to traffic drugs to the U.S., together with suspect Ramon del Rosario Puente (Toño Leña), being held in Puerto Rico.

"The DNCD is a rotten agency, infiltrated by people of the narco at all levels. There are many captains and with higher ranks than hers at the service of drug trafficking," said the legislator of the ruling PLD party, in an interview at his office in Congress.

He said DNCD president Julio César Souffront should "clean up the cleaners."

"The fact is that belongs to a chain of complicity, the biggest link doesn’t end at her office. There are other lords at a higher level, who’re involved with this work to support drug trafficking," said the lawmaker from Peravia province.
