4.7 earthquake rattles southeastern Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.– A magnitude-4.7 earthquake has rattled some residents in the Dominican Republic Sunday at 4:13 am local time but with no reports of any injuries or damage.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the moderate quake was centered roughly 8 kilometers east-southeast of San Pedro de Macoris, just east of Santo Domingo.

It occurred at a depth of about 100 kilometers. Local authorities reported the quake was felt in parts of Santo Domingo.
