Former drug agency official fired

Santo Domingo.- The Executive Branch has decreedthe dismissals of Lieutenant Colonel Johan Emilio Liriano Sánchez andother officials “linked to actions that go against the Constitution” .

The Executiveaccepted the recommendation to that effect of the Higher Police Councilregarding Liriano Sánchez, who is accused of belonging to a dangerous networkof gangsters at the service of drug traffickers operating in the country’seastern region, linked to the deaths of more than 50 people.

LirianoSánchez was the special adviser to the former chief of the National DrugControl Directorate Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo, who has spoken outpublicly in defense of the accused official on more than one occasion.
