Yet another pop singer heads to jail

Santo Domingo.- A Santo Domingo province judge on Friday ruled to incarcerate urban music singer Joan Manuel Nova (El Sujeto) for one month to await trial.

The pop signer allegedly kidnapped and beat the moto-taxi driver Rafael Reyes, who allegedly had stolen from Nova.

One day after the incident with Reyes, Nova allegedly assaulted the journalist Julio Benzant and broke his phone during an interview at his jail cell.

Nova follows pop singers Vakero, Omega, El Gringo de la Bachata, Latin American idol winner Martha Heredia, among others, whové been incarcerated this year on charges ranging from fraud, to violence and drug trafficking.
