Haiti, DR should seek a human solution, Vatican’s envoy says

Santo Domingo.– The Vatican’s new envoy Jude Thaddeus Okolo considered Haiti and the Dominican Republic must find a humane solution to the plight of thousands of citizens of Haitian descent in the country.

Okolo also said the Catholic Church would mediate if both parties require so. "I wish there could be a dialogue between the two sides, so you can find a humane solution in addition to the sentence," he said Friday in his first comments on the subject.

Questioned about how this would be possible after the dialogue breakdown by the Dominican government, Okolo said the issue can be taken up. "You can start again, because there are good people on both sides."
