Scrappy opposition leader wants cops to recoup party position by force

Santo Domingo.- The scrappiest woman in Dominican Republic’s major opposition party (PRD) on Thursday asked the National District Office of the Prosecutor to assign a police contingent to escort her into her post as the political organization’s Secretary Organization.

Geanilda Vásquez said prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso promised to study her request .

Accompanied by her lawyer Julio Cury, the veteran politico urged PRD president Miguel Vargas to avert her having to the use force to occupy her position. “He should take advantage of the holiday period to unify the party.”
