Convict’s ‘missing’ file pits Prosecutor, Supreme Court justice

Santo Domingo.- Former National District prosecutor AlejandroMoscoso on Sunday said the originaldocuments of the plea bargaining agreement with money laundering convict SobeidaFélix were left in its files, when he was replaced by the current official, YeniBerenice Reynoso.

That’s how Moscoso, who is a Supreme Court justice today, responded to Reynoso’s affirmation on Friday, that she couldn’t accept the agreementwith Felix as valid.

Reynoso alleges that without having the original documents, she cannot comply with the plea bargaining agreement with the paramour ofPuerto Rican kingpin José Figueroa Agosto.

"The fact that the current head of the office prosecutorhasn’t been able to get her hands on the original agreement is a situation thatrelates to said office and its respective staff," Moscoso said in astatement.

He said the agreement was signed with strict compliancewith the law and approved by the then Justice Minister Radhames Jimenez.

"That’s why we don’t understand the contradictorypositions at various times around this case," Moscoso said.
