Puerto Rican kingpin’s paramour to remain in jail

Santo Domingo.- The National District 2nd Criminal Chamber on Wednesday ruled against money laundering convict Sobeida Félix request of release on parole, and demanded that the Office of the Prosecutor to comply with her plea bargaining agreement.

Her lawyer Félix Portes said judge Franny González’s ruling is based on the same request already rejected by the National District’s 8th Criminal Chamber.

He said from now on they’ll take legal action against the Office of the Prosecutor, including a civil lawsuit for damages filed in the Administrative Court and to challenge the sale of her properties.

Félix, now serving five years for money laundering at Najayo prison, San Cristobal, didn’t attend today’s hearing.

Her paramour, Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa agosto, is being held in New York. He’s accused of running the biggest drug-trafficking operation out of the Dominican Republic.
