Gunmen haul off RD$30.0M in armored truck heist

Santo Domingo.- Armed robbers assaulted an armored truck and took off with RD$30.0 million in the Tuesday morning, 35 kilometers north of the capital on the Duarte Highway.

Police said men in military garb, hooded and bearing assault rifles robbed the truck of the Caribbean Express Company, at 11am on the highway close to the town of Villa Altagracia.

National Police Chief Manuel Castro said agents were sent to comb the area after the robbers.
