‘Missing’ Foreign Minister fuels Dominican Republic’s rumor mill

Santo Domingo.- In a survey among readers of news outlet El Nacional Digital about the silence around the Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales’ health, an overwhelming 95% say the Government has to come clean on the official’s situation.
There’s been no official information since late September when Morales took a leave to treat his leukemia detected in a United States medical facility, and has neither appeared in public.
Morales’ supporters in the pro-government PRSC party have promoted him for re-election as the organization’s president, although he has yet to publicly state whether he seeks the post.
His more than three-month absence has fueled the country’s rumor mill, and speculation within the PRSC party.
