Santo Domingo.- The National Police headquarters fired and charged three agents in the RD$38 million (nearly US$1.0 million), which occurred during a heist of a bus of the Caribe Express company carrying the money from Santiago to Santo Domingo.

The assault occurred noon Monday 40 kilometers north on the Duarte motorway, near Villa Altagracia.

Angel Gregorio García, Johan Manuel Terrero and Luis Alfredo Pichardo Ortiz were arrested and agents seized RD$1.08 million of the money from the assault in addition to one service weapon, according to the Police.

It said the assault was planned and perpetrated by a ring allegedly headed a man identified as jewellery Esterlin Rikelvin Viloria Calas, alias "El Grande," who’s been linked to other heists targeting armored trucks.
