Opposition leader predicts rival’s failure in bid to OAS

San Jose de Ocoa, Dominican Republic.- The President of Dominican Republic’s opposition party PRD on Tuesday predicted that if the faction headed by Hipólito Mejía takes their internal row to the OAS, it will be defeated again.

Miguel Vargas said Mejía’s effort to recover his primacy in the party, "is more of the same” and warned him against “flouting the PRD’s statutes,” and warned that he should adhered to the several rulings handed down by the Dominican courts

“By continuing his permanent attitude of insubordination he sabotages possibilities, understanding and compromise," Vargas said.

Vargas, interviewed by local media after a mass to mark Altagracia Day, said the opposing group’s visit to the OAS "will meet with the same failures so far, while the almost absolute majority of the PRD work in a participatory transparent and fair manner to stage a convention to choose our new leadership."
