Colombian brothers, ex police colonel to stay in jail longer

San Cristóbal, Dominican Republic.- A San Cristobal panel court on Tuesday ruled to allow prosecutors more time to investigate the case against Colombian brothers Huber Osvaldo, and Angel Maria Buitrago, charged with operating an underground cocaine lab near a farm at Sabana Toro (south), dismantled by antinarcotics agents.

The Court also extended the investigation in the case against former National Police Lt. Colonel Johan Emilio Liriano, linked to a network of drug traffickers and hired killers in the country.

It set separate hearings for Feb. 17 for the Buitrago brothers, and for the 25th in Liriano’s case.

The Court ruled in favor of the Anti-laundering Unit prosecutors, who asked to widen the investigation in the case of the Colombian brothers. All three are being held at Najayo prison, San Cristobal.
