U.S. satisfied with Dominican Republic’s war on drugs: Ambassador

Santo Domingo.- United States ambassador James Brewster on Wednesday called drug trafficking as a misfortune which discredits and disgraces societies and favors Justice’s toughest punishment for those convicted of that crime.

He said Washington is satisfied with Dominican Republic and president Danilo Medina’s efforts to fight it. "It’s an effort that we in our country also understand is vital and we also understand that these criminals should be behind bars because drug trafficking criminals discredit and disgrace societies."

Brewster, prior to visiting Higher Education minister Ligia Amada Melo, affirmed that he also appreciates the Dominican Government’s efforts to educate youngsters and said hopes for more agreements to provide more scholarships to students.

"We’re extremely pleased and excited with president Danilo Medina commitment to education," the diplomat said.
