Nationwide walkout ‘99%’ success: Retailers

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s retailers grouped in the FDC Wednesday claimed "99% success" in the walkout by businesses to demand an extension of the deadline to install tax receipt printers in stores, which expired December 31.

FDC president Ivan García said around 100,000 businesses shut their doors nationwide "which means it cost the State 1.5 billion pesos," and announced the suspension of the strike originally called for 48 hours," to open a space to negotiate" with the government.

He said that there’ll be a national meeting of retailers next week, when he expects "to announce to the country that a satisfactory agreement has been reached."
