Senate chief announces run for the presidency

Santo Domingo.- Senate president Reinaldo Pared on Friday announced the launch of his presidential candidacy for Dominican Republic’s ruling party (PLD) in mid Feb.

He said he already informed PLD president Leonel Fernández and president Danilo Medina of his plan and “they considered that I deserve it.”

Pared interviewed on the "Zol de la Mañana" radio program, said recent polls are taking him into account despite the fact that he has yet to launch his campaign.
