Officers to defend Dominican sovereignty with their “own lives”

Santo Domingo.– Officers from various armed institutions told Dominican President Danilo Medina they will defend the country’s sovereignty "with their own lives if necessary."

Such a statement was made by Major General Ismael Antonio Alvarado Friday morning at the National Palace where the Head of State hosted a reception for senior military and police officers with as many as 35 years of service.

Army, Air Force, Navy and Police officials arrived in the Palace to greet the president, during the ceremony held in the Caryatids salon located on the third floor. Defense minister Sigfrido Pared accompanied Medina in the activit.
