Tax printer row: Retailers threaten boycott of manufacturers

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic’s Retailers Federation warned Thursday that if the Internal Taxes Agency fails to meet their demands in their proposal to install the tax receipt printers, they will halt purchases from manufacturers.

Iván García, head of the largest association that groups small and medium-sized retailers, said the halt to the transactions with manufacturers will lead to “considerable consequences for the economy.”

He said the situation between retailers and the Government will be defined after next Tuesday when thy plant to submit the proposal. “After the results Tuesday the retailers will meet Thursday to discuss the actions to delay the installation of the printers.

"This is a way for us to get involved with all sectors of Dominican Republic’s economy, for them to understand the problem of the organized retailers."
