Medina contradicts Public Works chief on road toll hike

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina Wednesday said the decision to increase road tolls isn’t final, just one day after Public Works minister Gonzalo Castillo said the measure “had not reverse gear.”

Medina said Castillo will speak about the measure on which "the Government hasn’t taken a definitive decision" to raise tolls in Greater Santo Domingo’s four plazas from 30 to 100 pesos.

Bus owners’ associations have warned that higher tolls will lead to transport strikes and increases in passenger fares.
