Country’s water shortage needs urgent action, expert warns
Santo Domingo.- Engineers, architects and surveyors guild (Codia) resident Aridio Santos on Tuesday warned that urgent actions are needed to deal with the country’s water shortage.
Santos proposed installing water meters in all households, businesses and industrial facilities to ensure its rational use.
He said urgent measures are needed to prevent waste, and control and manage water, especially in periods of recurring droughts.
He said installed meters will generate revenue for Santo Domingo’s water and sewage utility (CAASD) so it can improve the distribution grid and ensure a quality supply of drinking water. “Placing meters in households will generate resources for the CAASD and ensure that citizens don’t waste water as well.”
