Authorities to start issuing new IDs in 3 weeks

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has suspended delivery of copies of the Identity and Electoral Certificate (Cedula) temporarily, to start issuing the new document which boasts high tech features such as the person’s biometric data.

The JCE said it will start issuing new IDs within three weeks, and has begun installing a new platform and equipment leading up to the process.

The replacement of old equipment and the installation of new ones is taking place in all JCE offices nationwide, aimed at starting the issuing of the new ID.
