Customs Agency: Tax breaks allegation unfounded rumor

Santo Domingo.- The Customs Agency Press Dept. on Thursday called media reports that tax breaks were provided to bonded warehouse ALMADECA, S.A., reportedly owned by opposition PRD party president Miguel Vargas, “unfounded rumors.”

It said none of the bonded warehouses receive tax exemptions, since these agencies only store merchandise imported by third parties.

It adds that the tax exemptions Customs provides are regulated by Law, adding that there’re no records or files of tax exemption to ALMADECA as a group of PRD deputies alleges.
