Procrastinators left without cell phone service

Santo Domingo.- Procrastination reared its lazy head in the Dominican Republic once again, as users of prepaid cell phones were left without service after the deadline issued by the regulator Indotel expired midnight Thursday

Long lines formed at mobile phone service providers across the country, with customers scurrying to validate their numbers, already suspended today.

Deputy Presidency minister Zoraima Cuello said the measure complies with Indotel resolution 039-13, in response to the high percentage of prepaid, unidentified lines which she affirms cause serious law enforcment issues and affect the proper work by agencies such as the 9-1-1 national emergency system.
