TS Bertha leaves path of relief across Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Tropical Storm Bertha’s downpours across the country will ease the drought that has parched Dominican Republic during the last eight months, with most water levels at most dams expected return to normal.

Moreover, the National Weather Office forecasts more rain from a trough starting Monday afternoon, especially over the Central Mountain range.

Meteorology said eastern Hato Mayor province posted the most rainfall from Bertha, at 158 cubic millimeters.

Santo Domingo’s water utility (CAASD) affirmed the water production is could jump as much as 50 million gallons for Greater Santo Domingo thanks to the storm’s rains.
