Notorious ‘Cock fighter’surrenders, faces numerous charges (Update2)

Santo Domingo.- National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) spokesman Miguel Medina announced that Winston Rizik surrendered to authorities Thursday afternoon, to face money laundering, contract murders and drug trafficking charges.

Rizik also faces extradition to the U.S. to face similar accusations.

FILE. The Justice Ministry on Thursday announced the confiscations of weapons and drugs during raids at properties owned by Winston Rizik Rodríguez “El Gallero” (Cock fighter), whom the authorities call the heir of convicted drug trafficker "Toño Leña" in the East region.

A source quoted by elnacional.com.do confirmed the raids in Monte Plata Wed. night by agents of the Anti-money Laundering Unit, and revealed that eight large packages of cocaine were seized. While the source didn’t specify the number or type of weapons seized in a House of the "Cock-fighter," they reiterated that it was “an arsenal.”

The agents in the raids were reportedly headed by Unit director Germán Miranda.

The drugs seized were analyzed at Forensics Thursday morning to determine the type of narcotic, while a warrant was issued for Rizik’s arrest.

Justice minister Francisco Domingo on Thursday afternoon called Rizik the country’s biggest criminal, and revealed that among the ‘arsenal’ seized in on of his farms figure two assault rifles.
