2nd quake shakes east region in as many weeks

Santo Domingo.- A 4.5 magnitude quake shook Guaymate township, eastern La Romana province Thursday afternoon, the second moderate tremor to hit that region in as many weeks

No injuries of property damages have been reported thus far.

The Santo Domingo State University Seismology Institute said the tremor’s epicenter was 1:17pm

The United States Geodetic Service said the quake was 109.7 kilometers deep.

The tremor was also felt in the capital, and lit up the social networks.

Two weeks ago

On Sept. 12 a 4.7 magnitude quake also shook Dominican Republic’s eastern region, and felt across much of the country.
