Dominican Navy halts 140 boatpeople, including 8 Indians(Update)

Santo Domingo.- Update- The Navy said of the total of undocumented travelers detained in the last 30 days, 40 are Dominican, 8 from India, and 140 from Haiti.

FIEL.Dominican Republic’s Navy on Thursday arrested 42 boatpeople who were trying to reach Puerto Rico illegally from the east region, EFE reports.

The arrests were carried out early Thursday morning, according to the Navy.

The latest arrests of undocumented boatpeople bring the total of travelers trying to reach Puerto Rico this week to 77.

The number of Pakistanis and Indians trying to reach U.S. territory has grownover the last few years.
