Electric utility executives visit GE plant in New York

Santo Domingo.- Numerous officials of Dominican Republic’s State-owned Electric Utility (CDEEE) traveled to Schenectady, New York, to tour the facilities of General Electric, which was contracted to build the turbines for the two coal-fired plants to be installed at Punta Catalina, Bani (south).

Utility CEO Rubén Jiménez Bichara headed the delegation which toured General Electric’s facilities, the world’s largest turbine factory.

The equipment for Punta Catalina is reportedly at the initial stage of manufacture, with the first turbines slated to arrive in the country by yearend 2015.
