One of the country’s “owners” halts freight transport at major port

Santo Domingo.- National Police agents have taken control of freight traffic in and out of Caucedo Multimodal Port, after truckers of Dominican Republic’s powerful Fenatrado union halted operations Monday afternoon,

National Police chief Manuel Castro is expected to arrive shortly to avert a confrontation in the heels of the Boca Chica Truckers Union’s decision to break away from Fenatrado.

Dubbed by local media as one of “the country’s owners,” Fenatrado often stages wildcat strikes and damages trucks of opponents.
