Prominent group demands clarity with Senator’s US$697.0M ‘assets’

Santo Domingo.- The Institution and Justice Foundation (Finjus) on Wednesday demanded compliance with all processes to clarify the allegations against senator Félix Bautista and the frozen assets including 155 real estate properties reportedly worth more than RD$3.0 billion (US$697.0 million).

Finjus vice president Serbio Tulio Castaños Guzman called the case of the lawmaker and close collaborator of former president Leonel Fernandez “emblematic,” and clarity would most benefit the San Juan de la Maguana province senator himself.

"It’s an emblematic case which must be clarified, is a former official who played one of the most stellar roles in the previous administration and in the current situation is a Senator and Organization Secretary of the party in power," he said, adding that society wants Bautista’s situation clarified, always with due process.
