Cemex Dominicana senior executive dies in chopper crash

Santo Domingo.- Cemex Dominicana Security chief Juan Arturo Maceo Castañeda died when the helicopter he was traveling in fell to Earth near a village of the Cristobal Colon sugar mill, in eastern San Pedro province.

Also aboard the chopper was the priest Roberto Adriano and the pilot Victor Rodriguez, who were both also injured, said Civil Defense Regional director Pablo Polanco.

The pilot and the priest were flown by a helicopter ambulance to the Plaza de la Salud in Santo Domingo.

The fatal victim, who was also a deacon of the Catholic Church, remains at the Pedro Maria Santana Hospital morgue in San José de los Llanos Saturday afternoon.

The helicopter registry HI 419 was totally destroyed.
