Local, U.S. agents seize drugs on container ship again

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Thursday announced the confiscation of 72 bricks presumably cocaine or heroin in a car shipped in a container from Panama to Haina Port.
DNCD spokesman Dario Medrano said the packages seized in a joint operation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) were inside a Nissan Sentra car with Panama plates, wrapped in plastic bags hidden in a fake floor.
He said the car with the drug was found in a container aboard the ship Conti Elektra, as part of a search by DNCD agents accompanied by Santo Domingo province assistant DA Leydi Figueroa.
The DNCD had also confiscated drugs in a container aboard the Conti Elektra on Sept. 25.
