Downpours wreak havoc along Santiago-Puerto Plata tourist road

Santiago.- The ongoing downpours in the central Cibao region have cut a dangerous, gaping hole of around 10 meters on the Luperon tourist road near Puerto Plata, and a series of landslides along way.

Carlos Rodriguez, one of the several drivers who ply the route Montellano-Yásica-Gurabo, Santiago, said several stretches on the road have sunk in the past two days, especially at Pedro Garcia township, where the road deteriorate progressively, for which he asks the Public Works Ministry to make urgent repairs.

He said the same situation is occurring in other nearby communities, where landslides are also damaging roads, and which Rodriguez affirms has been repeatedly denounced.
