Radical priest to head ‘7 Days for Loma Miranda National Park

Santo Domingo.- Radical priest Rogelio Cruz, who headed several activities in Northeastern U.S. as part of his effort to declare Loma Miranda a national park, said he expects a massive attendance by all Dominicans in "7 Days for Miranda," with demonstrations across the country November 24 to 30.

He announced community workshops to protect nature, musical activities against violence, participation of more than 40 local and foreign performers including Ramon Leonardo, Danny Rivera (Puerto Rico) Ilka y Thadeo, comedians Raymon and Miguel, among others.

"These artists, songwriters, actors, actresses, cultural leaders and all those who work on stage, put their mind and heart to a cause that is Loma Miranda National Park," said the Salesian priest, who has led over 50 marches nationally and in the U.S., and plans to take the fight to other world cities home to many Dominicans.

He added that a similar nationwide event in 1974 dared to confront the “Police State headed by Joaquin Balaguer."
