Feared ‘country’s owners’ hijack bus; no charges expected

Santo Domingo.- Members of a south region transport association hijacked a bus of a company in San Cristobal Monday morning, but no charges are expected in the case.

Government Transport Office (OTTT) PR Melvison Almánzar said the hijackers belong to the transport union Fetrapasur, affiliated to the bus owners association (Conatra), one of the groups known as the “country’s owners,” feared by the Dominican Government

He said the hijacking came because Conatra wants to provide bus services to the construction company Industrias Aguayo, which currently contracts Servi Tours. There were no passengers on the bus.

The vehicle was returned to their owners after OTTT director Hector Mujica spoke with Conatra president Antonio Marte and the National Police.
