One in 3 businesses reneged on ‘Black Friday’ ads
Santo Domingo.- More than one in three (36%) of the businesses in Dominican Republic failed to come clean on the “Black Friday" ads, as Law 358-05 stipulates, the consumer protection agency (ProConsumidor) revealed Monday.
"During random monitoring of 22 retailers during Black Friday the businesses kept stocks on the advertized products," said the agency in a statement. “Whereas 36% of the businesses monitored during Black Friday didn’t have the products offered available.”
"We found that some items weren’t available when performing consumer purchasing, so that appropriate measures were taken for suppliers to correct the detected nonconformity," it said, noting that, 80% of the businesses visited in 2013 complied with truthful advertising.
