Car tag renewal period ends on 31 December

Santo Domingo.– The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (AMET) confirmed Sunday that the deadline for renewing the motor vehicle windshield sticker ends Wednesday 31 December at 1:00 p.m and warned that drivers will have to pay a RD$600 surcharge after the deadline.

According to Amet spokesman Diego Pesqueira, once the deadline is up, AMET is authorized to check motor vehicles to see if they have complied with the law. "Our agents will proceed to impound the vehicles without stickers. The owner must renew and pay a fine," he pointed out.
