Crowds of procrastinators jam JCE offices to get their new ID card

Santo Domingo.– In the last few days citizens have been making long lines in the various Central Electoral Board (JCE) offices across the capital and other cities to renew their ID card (cedula).

The JCE had issued a statement announcing extended hours for most offices and urged the population to get their new cedula before the January 10 deadline, and assured the service will still be provided for free after that date.

The centers will work from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, Mondaythrough Friday; Saturday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, and Sundays until 2:00 pm. The centers located in the Dominican communities abroad will continueworking their usual hours, until further notice.
