‘Caveman’ retired general, judge’s bodyguard draw guns

Santo Domingo.- Electoral Court (TSE) judge José Manuel Hernández on Sunday said he filed assault charges against retired general Rafael Percival Peña, whose history of aggressive actions prompted an opposition leader to liken his attitude to that of a “caveman.”

Hernandez’s bodyguards and Peña reportedly drew their weapons at the Cuesta bookstore on Saturday, where the retired general also yelled obscenities against the judge.

After news broke on the incident, opposition PRD party president Miguel Vargas called Pena’s action against Hernandez, "uncivilized, and brutal as a caveman.”
