Police drug heist: Agents raid the country’s biggest rent-a-cop company

Santo Domingo.- .Police and assistant prosecutors around 9am Monday raided Dominican Republic’s largest private security company Dominican Watchman National, less than 24 hours after the Justice Ministry announced it will name names in the Police Narcotics Div. (Dican) stolen drugs case.

Justice deputy minister Bolívar Sánchez said a safe seized at the company located on Kennedy Av. might contain drugs. "We have some findings but we cannot provide details at this time. We made an inventory where traces have tested possible for drugs in one of the safes."

Sanchez, accompanied by Anti-Laundering Unit director Germán Miranda and National Police Internal Affairs chief Orlando M. Pichardo, said the Dican investigation found that one of the assistant DAs initially assigned to the case had rented a safe at the company’s vaults, for which the authorities obtained a bench warrant for the company to allow access.
