Puerto Rican kingpin case rocked the country, inspires film

Santo Domingo.- The film inspired by the case of Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa Agosto (Junior Capsula) will be released January 29 in some theaters, Caribbean Film Distribution announced Wednesday.

The premiere of ‘Los Reyes (the kings): The true story of Buster and The Chameleon’ is slated for Tuesday, January 27 at the Caribbean Cinemas Galeria 360, headed by its leading roles, Jorge Alberti and Georgina Duluc.

Its producer Jorge Luis Ramos said the film was inspired by the case of Figueroa Agosto, the country’s biggest drug trafficking and money laundering scandal.

The case with at least eight contract murders, affairs and cover-ups by authorities rocked Dominican Republic’s economic, political and social circles and fuels the action drama.
