Puerto Plata, DR.– About 300 families in several rural and urban communities in the provinces Espaillat and Puerto Plata were relocated by the Civil Defense to prevent accidents due to floods as a result of the overflowing of the rivers Veragua and Yasica.

After this situation, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintained the red alert for Espaillat and Puerto Plata, especially for residents in Gaspar Hernandez, Jamao, Yasica Arriba and Sabaneta de Yasica, and issued a yellow alert for Santiago, Sanchez Ramirez, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Hermanas Mirabal and Duarte.

The National Weather Office (Onamet) forecasts strong to moderate rains with thunderstorms for most regions for the weekend, from a frontal system over the country.
