Border cops suspend Dominican-Haiti market on protest concern

Elias Piña, Dominican Republic .- The bi-national market held in the westernmost province Mondays and Fridays was suspended today on concern with the announced march by Haitian organizations to the border, said Border Security Corp (CESFRONT) director Manuel Aguirre Reyes on Monday.

Speaking on the Z101FM radio program, the official said CESFRONT agents remain deployed at strategic points in Elías Piña province to prevent the announced protest from crossing the border line.

"The country market is suspended for that reason … we’re here expecting the march to be carried out normally," Aguirre said.
