US fruit, vegetable ban harms in several ways: Business leader

Santo Domingo.- The president of the young business leaders grouped in ANJE on Thursday said the US ban on local fruit and vegetables will affect the trade balance and harm Dominican Republic’s agro sector.

Angelina Biviana Riveiro said as a group those products have a significant impact within Dominican exports. She said any restriction based on a free trade agreement affects not only that sector of ??the economy, but also exports.

Quoted by elcaribe.com.do, the head of ANJE said the Government, as a maker and executor of public policies, must take the measures to prevent and mitigate any potential harm to the export sector. "We must work hand in hand with the public and private sectors to ensure that our products can find international markets as a mechanism for growth."
