Dominican President attends 30 March commemorations

Santo Domingo.– President Danilo Medina headed the activities commemorating the 171st anniversary of the Battle of 30 March 1844, held today in Santiago .

The activities started at eight in the morning, with the raising of the national and municipal flags in the Imbert Park on the avenue of the same name at the intersection of Las Carreras Avenue.

Floral offerings were placed later on at the statues of the heroes of the movement and historian Edwin Espinal gave a brief conference in the Imbert Park. At 11 in the morning the Te Deum Mass was celebrated by Archbishop Ramon Benito de la Rosa y Carpio.
